The Lemosho route offers diverse landscapes, including lush rainforests, heath and moorlands, and alpine desert. It provides stunning views of the Shira Plateau and other surrounding areas.
The 8-day itinerary allows for a gradual ascent, which is crucial for acclimatizing to the high altitude and reducing the risk of altitude sickness. This extended duration contributes to a higher summit success rate.

Depart from Moshi hotel driving towards the western side of the mountain through the country side arriving in time for lunch at lemosho trailhead. Have lunch, then commence hiking through the forest winding up to the first camp.

After having breakfast, start trekking into a savanna of tall grass and rocky volcanic rocks draped with lichen beards reaching Shira 1Camp. The view of Kibo across the plateau is amazing.

In this whole day, we’ll be exploring the Shira plateau walking east towards Kibo glaciated peak. Shira plateau is one of the highest plateaus on earth.

Leave the camp continuing with the trekking to the east up ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. We continue our direction changing to South East towards Lava tower at 4600m. Have Lunch from this point and continue down to the Barranco Camp for overnight and dinner. This day is very important for acclimatization ahead of summit as it involves hiking on high and sleeping on low altitude.

After breakfast, leave the Camp and climb a non- technical but steep ridge {Barranco Wall or the kissing rock}. Continue trekking in a series of hills reaching Karanga Camp. Dinner and overnight at the Camp.

Right after breakfast and gearing up, start trekking passing the junction to Mweka trail continuing up to the Barafu Camp. From this camp, Mawenzi peak and the Kibo peak are very visible. Have an early dinner and resting ahead of the summit overnight.

Wake up at around 2300hrs, have a simple breakfast, gear up and start the journey to the summit. This is the most challenging part in the body both mentally and physically. Please just a single step after the other with like baby steps following your guide in the dark.
At Stella point (18,600ft), you will be rewarded by the epic sunrise if the weather is clear. Then continue in about an hour to summit. At this point, Uhuru peak, you are now on the highest point of Mount Kilimanjaro and in the continent of Africa.
Spend a short time at the summit taking photos and start descending down to Barafu Camp for lunch and a rest. After then continue trekking down to Mweka Camp. Enjoy the last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.

After the breakfast and a little celebration with your service crew, pick up your day packs and start descending down. On arriving at the gate, you’ll be rewarded with certificates of achievement. Board a vehicle which will drive you back in your hotel in Moshi or onward destination.
