Itinerary

Day 1:Nairobi - Karisia Walking Safaris

After breakfast, our driver will pick and drive to Wilson airport for a scheduled flight to Nanyuki airstrip taking about 45 minutes. From here, you will be met by a Karisia walking Safari driver taking you to Tumaren camp. They specialise in camel-assisted walking safaris that explore this Laikipia wilderness in day walks out of the permanent camp on their ranch to next camps. Each day typically consists of a 4-5 hour walk of around 8-15km, depending on the fitness of the party and the terrain being crossed, and allowing for rest stops and pauses to watch and photograph wildlife.

Food, water and drinks are served freshly prepared on daily fullboard basis.

Day 2, 3 & 4:Walking Bush Safaris

Each day on a Karisia walking safari is different from the next or previous. The safari focuses on exploring the areas on foot, accompanied by Samburu guides and trackers, as well as trusty camel transports. Away from outside world, your family have a unique opportunity to take in the wide-open spaces and wildlife that Laikipia is famed for, especially the heavy populations of eland, steinbuck, giraffe, Grevvy’s Zebra, and elephants. Lucky visitors may even see spot a few local lions, leopards, cheetahs, and wild dogs. Children especially love this walking safaris, as it allows them to be outdoors all day, riding camels, fishing, swimming, climbing rocks, and learning about the local ecosystems and traditions from Laikipia Samburu trackers.

DAY 5:Karisia - Nanyuki airstrip - Masai Mara

After a moment of luxury and romantic leisure without compromising the nature in Kasiria, board back your vehicle to Nanyuki airstrip to connect with a flight to Masai Mara National reserve. Masai Mara is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. The annual wildebeest’s migration alone involves over 1.5 million animals arriving in July and departing in November. Our representative driver will be on wait at Masai Mara airstrip and take you to Mara Soap lodge or similar. After lunch step out in the park for an wildlife search. Dinner and overnight in your lodge.

Day 6 & 7: Masai Mara full day

After an early breakfast, head out for game viewing and searching the Big Five animals namely: Lions, African Buffalo, Leopards, Rhinos and African Elephant among other wildlife.

You can opt taking a hot air ballon (at own extra costs) where you will see all the untamed wildlife action before setting down on the plains for full breakfast at your lodge or a wilderness breakfast among the carnivores. Relax in your lodge between mid afternoon or have a packed lunch and bottled water for a full day wildlife search.

DAY 8:Masai Mara - Nairobi

Before you farewell to the Masai Mara, the trip cannot be complete without a visit to a Masai community village for a cultural visit. Note that entrance to a Masai village is payable at own extra cost. Afterwards, commence your trip back to Nairobi or onward safari destination.
